HDMI cables can be had for £2.50 online.
also no reason why sony are trying to save pennies
We dropped coaxial many many years ago.
Maybe you're getting confused with composite.
at a guess those that can be had for £2.50 wont be as reliable as a company like sony would need, so they'd have to get the good quality cables which come at a much higher price.
another guess is that hdmi manufacturers could be giving sony and xbox money to not supply the cables as if they did they'd lose a lot of sales. i know a lot on hear by cheap cables but people like my parents buy the £40 ones
your parents obviously follow the flock of consumer marketing then and dont care about the facts, as for reliability - hdmi cables either work or they dont, and ive bought 3 x £1.50 cables and they all worked the exact same as more expensive cables
no they don't the picture quality on the more expensive cables is much betterhonestly

My Jasper 360 of 7 months ago came with an official HDMI lead and optical dongle. Do they not come with the slim xboxes?
you sure ? my jasper elite bought in january came with neither
100% sure. I bought an Official HDMI lead about 3 months ago. Just got my jasper box down from the roof to pack up
The comment about diamonds sent me on a bit of a research trip. Check out this article http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/11.09/diamond.htmltotal rubbish about diamonds above too. lolworthy. clear diamonds are as rare as its made out. not so clear diamonds are common yes but no one wants a grey lump on their finger so theyre used for other things. industrial
Diamond, it turns out, is a geek's best friend. Not only is it the hardest substance known, it also has the highest thermal conductivity - tremendous heat can pass through it without causing damage. Today's speedy microprocessors run hot - at upwards of 200 degrees Fahrenheit. In fact, they can't go much faster without failing. Diamond microchips, on the other hand, could handle much higher temperatures, allowing them to run at speeds that would liquefy ordinary silicon. But manufacturers have been loath even to consider using the precious material, because it has never been possible to produce large diamond wafers affordably. With the arrival of Gemesis, the Florida-based company, and Apollo Diamond, in Boston, that is changing. Both startups plan to use the diamond jewelry business to finance their attempt to reshape the semiconducting world.

I couldn't tell the difference between my brother's £18 cable and my £2 ebay cable on a 48" screen. If there's that much of a difference to you, it'll justify spending the extra cash, but if I honestly can't tell the difference, I'll save the extra cash and spend it on beer to really blur the extra details.
I think he was being sarcastic!
(I hope)
