PS3 Hard Drive Size Limit

Why are install times higher on the SSD? My laptop has one and reading and writing to it is waaay faster than a normal drive. I guess it's because the PS3 isn't designed with it in mind?

Also I think the info is with older SSDs with those poor controllers, not the newer ones on the market...

I once fitted a Seagate Momentus 7200.2 (7200RPM) and got regular lockups, I replaced it with a Fujitsu 250GB 5400RPM and it's been perfect since.

I put a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500GB 5400RPM SATA-II in my PS3 a few weeks ago and I'm pleased with the change.

Someone hurry up and try a SSD in a PS3 :p

Im tempted...

I've got a first gen Samsung 64gb ssd in mine... Not really worth it, slower installs but seems to be faster loading games etc

Had a seagate 7200 rpm one in before that (trial before i put it into lappy). That was a bit noisy but didn't seem any faster than the stock 5400 rpm one
