PS3 Hard Drive Upgrade

Hi, I am thinking of buying SSD for my MCB and I thought would be a good idea to use the HDD for my PS3 as I sill have the fat 60GB and with Plus games, I have to keep deleting game data,

So my question, Is it possible to use my MCB HDD ?

Yep, if you have a USB flash drive or HDD you can do a system backup to that, swap HDDs, then restore the backup back to the new drive. You may also need to have the latest PS3 system software on said USB device to restore the software after you install the new HDD.

Alternatively, just back-up your save files (either to USB or PS+ storage) and then restore them back afterwards, though you'll obviously have to download any game updates and install your games again.

okay thanks, i don't need to backup. all the saves are stored online. do i need to put the firmware on a usb then?

You might. I had to when I recently swapped HDDs in my 320GB Slim but it all depends on model and software version I believe.
