ps3 HD question

Hi,

I went to my mates place, and he has a ps3 with a samsung HD ready tv (1366.768 i think)

in the ps options; we cant put the ps3 on 720p. it stays on 586i or something. how can he turn up the resolution? the games look pretty bad on that resolution. does he need a new cable?

any other info needed, just ask

Sounds like he's using the standard composite cable, his best bet would be to buy a HDMI cable (just check theres a spare HDMI port on the TV first) and go with that, don't get ripped off and spend £80 like I read on another thread here, just get one for a tenner or something.

He will need either an HDMI cable or a PS2/PS3 component lead, HDMI is probably the best way to go, if he has already got one, then he will have to reset the PS3 and hold down the reset button till it gives a couple of beeps. This will then force the PS3 to recheck its AV outputs and if HDMI is connected should default to that.

^not without linking to competitors, but I imagine there's a lot of places that sell hdmi cables for about a tenner

just put hdmi cable into google, you will find one.

http://www.ebay.co.uk is an easy way to get a HDMI cable, though you can go to any electrical retailer or video game retailer out there and pick one up.
