Just got a cable to connect PS3 via HDMI > DVI to my PC monitor (Samsung 226BW) but just realised this doesn't have any speakers ...

So my question is, whilst the PS3 is outputting over HDMI, can I connect the standard AV connector and will it output sound through that?

Thanks :)

Yes, (I think you may have to goto sound settings and tell it to output stereo or something to use the RCA outputs from the AV connector, else it will default to pushing sound through HDMI)

Great .... Thanks

Now, just realised I don't actually have anything I can connect those to ... is there any cheap way to get headphones connected , and also having some control over the volume?

Assuming you have some headphones with their ownvolume control, you could then just get a "2 Phono to 3.5mm Stereo Adaptor" which plugs into ps3 stereo rca jacks, then get a "Metal 3.5mm Stereo Coupler" to connect to this, then your headphones on the other end.

4 pounds-ish solution (assuming you have headphones with inline volume control)

Use google, I can't be bothered to upload the pictures and the sites selling are competitors.
