Just got an 80GB PS3 and trying to get it to display over HDMI, done the hold power button for 5 seconds reset, done the change to hdmi in display settings and still get a no signal message on my TV. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas as to a solution or does it sound like a duff HDMI port/cable.

yeah brand new cable, gonna get my mate to bring a cable round to check, if that doesn't solve it I'll take the PS3 to his flat so I can find out if its the port on the ps3 or tv thats not working, hope its just the cable though.

Check that the resolution of your TV matches the resolution set in the PS3 display menu. Display -> HDMI -> Custom-> 720p/1080i

At first, I had 1080p checked when my TV only accepts 720p/1080i signals and I couldn't get a picture either.

Course, this is useless info if you have a 1080p TV, but it's worth a shot.

Can't find that, in display options there is hdmi, I select that then the screen goes blank for 30 seconds, no signal on hdmi, also its not the cable or the TV as my mates 360 worked through hdmi when i tried it. Looks like I'll have to get a component cable instead.

You sure you can't find this:

Settings -> Display Settings -> Video Output Settings -> select 'hdmi' press right -> select 'custom' press right-> uncheck 1080p and check 576p and 720p -> press right -> press 'X' -> select 'finish' -> press 'X'

If that doesn't work, then you may have a faulty HDMI port on the PS3 as Dutch Guy has already said.
