PS3 Headset random weirdness

My official headset thing is playing up. Just flashes between the Red and Green light. I hold down the Power (green) button for 5 seconds and I hear the noise that signals on or off but it doesn't turn off. Sometimes when I hold it down for 5 secs it makes a long beep (might mean BT pairing mode on).

Deleted pairing from PS3 and just plugging via USB does not register the device (although doing a manual pairing does ask for the passkey, confirming that it is in pairing mode).

What shall I do? Plugging it in to Mac or PS3 does seem to be charging it, so I don't want to do that. Should I just let the battery die and hope for the best?

Anyone had this before?

Yep leave it on and let the battery drain. I had something similar (can't remember the exact details as it was a while ago), but after it had fully drained and been recharged it started working as normal.
