Hi

Are you able to buy any wireless Bluetooth headset and use it with the PlayStation 3 or do you need the official one? I know there are some third party ones made specifically (which don't seem too good from reviews) for the PS3 but I was wondering if you can use any headset with the console?

Thanks.

Only ones that work are USB Plug'n'Play ones and Bluetooth ones. The official one is a "customised" bluetooth headset.

If you have any of the above lying around it is worth trying them first. Some Bluetooth ones are great, some are not. USB I have not really used myself, but the cables would annoy me tbh.

I couldn't-had an old school Motorola one and it wouldn't connect. Are there any "unofficial" bluetooth headsets that are OK (and cheaper), or is the official PS3 one the one to go with?

Did you pair the two devices? I was under the impression that any bluetooth handsfree kits will work.

If i were going to go the bluetooth way i would only buy the official headset. For £20 it isn't unreasonably priced either.

Im sure in the PS3 FAQ theres a link listing headsets that work, personally i would either get a USB Headset if you sit close to the console or get the official PS3 one. Its worth the money and is the best headset ive used for the PS3 (or others).

It's rather hard to find it in stock anywhere tbh, i was surprised when i found it with plenty of stock on an very well known high-street stores website. I imagined that would be the first place to sell out.

Decided to order myself one, couldn't say no for £20

I used a Motorola Bluetooth one for a bit, but it had rubbish battery life and even worse sound/mic quality. I have since purchased the official jobbie and it’s miles better, the sound quality is excellent and the noise cancelling actually works, meaning I transmit nice and clear.

Scort.
