PS3 Home beta application

I expect the more time on PSN time relates to multiplayer games, it would be pointless giving the beta to someone who never plays online i guess.

Depends, we don't know what the granularity is of the data they collect for a start so we don't know what criteria they have available for sorting people.
At the roughest level they could sort people by number of logins / time spent logged in to PSN.
Then, as you say there's time spent online in games, but if people spend a significant period of the time they are logged into the PSN on online games they wouldn't be as much use to test Home as someone who sends a lot of messages or spends a lot of time in the store, maybe ?
Unless the focus is on testing game integration, then people who spend a lot of time playing games that are featured in Home would be a focus !

But I don't think there's a lot of point over-thinking it (says me) we'll all get it sooner or later.

It's a trap !
