PS3 Home beta application

From the US PSN blog, looks like we get a similar deal in the EU (without the theme download (yet?)

Today we’re announcing the expansion of our closed beta test for PlayStation Home to begin at the end of the month.


Later today, the PLAYSTATION Store will be updated with a PlayStation Home theme. By downloading the theme, users are submitting an application to join the PlayStation Home Beta test community. We will be using a variety of criteria including activity on the PLAYSTATION Network to determine eligibility for the Beta community. Existing beta testers have automatically qualified to be part of the expanded beta.

We’re really excited about this milestone and want our most loyal fans to be a part of the evolution of PlayStation Home.

In Europe, SCEE is also beginning their expanded closed beta, directly targeting consumers who have been most active on PLAYSTATION Network and PLAYSTATION Store. SCEE will be in email contact with their PSN audience very shortly.

Nice to know we're finally getting some news on this.

I'm still not hugely impressed by the concept of it, but I'll give it a go before I really make my mind up.

The PSN store part sounds like nothing to do with time and more to do with how much cash you've spent.

I've bought a lot of PSN games and will be checking my mail more often now for the beta invite.
Although I have not got any real intention of using Home, I'd atleast like to see how it handles itself.

Inviting people on the basis of how long they've been on PSN or how much cash they've given Sony feels a bit weird, but as has been said if you are going by the second criteria all 60gig owners should get an auto invite !

I expect the more time on PSN time relates to multiplayer games, it would be pointless giving the beta to someone who never plays online i guess.
