well ?
I'm not saying turn home into an mmog, but let publishers have their own NPC's in home that walk around that users can interact with, these NPC's will occasionaly give you a mission to unlock extra content in one of their games for example, but their primary goal will be to act as a source of information, they will tell you when their new games are coming out, new developments etc, they won't approach you, you would have to engage them, for example you could see an EA NPC walking around and think, 'hey I wonder what new new PS3 games EA have coming out soon' and engage the NPC, something along those lines anyway, I honestly think this could work, it would be cool for the consumers and also the publishers,
Kind of like virtual PR representative's for their publishing house, they will be automated bot's like in wow for example, you click on them and they will provide you with a host of multiple choice questions, i.e "what new EA releases for coming to the PS3", direct web links to their site, and also as an added perk publishers could programme the NPC's to have quests/missions for you to do within one of their game/s to unlock extra content, it wouldn't be their main purpose, but an added perk and act as an incentive to re-visit home and interact with the NPC's.
