Has anyone here ever taken their PS3 on holiday with them or emigrated and just HAD to have their PS3 with them when they landed ? :)

Any stories or opinions ?
Post em here.

I'm thinking of doing it, and I would seriously pad that suitcase to the max.
I'm talking clothes wrapped around it. Bubble wrap. Ummmm..... yeah, clothes and bubble wrap. Perhaps even keeping it in its original box too !!!

Why would you take your ps3 on holiday?

Id not ship it in suitcase tbh. It would have to come on the plane with me or be shipped properly.

You seen how rough they are with suit cases?

Yeah because I didn't think of that :p

It's the same power in China as it is in the UK. Just a different shaped plug.

How long are you going for?

Would it not be better to buy one there, and then sell it before you go?

Basically renting?

Does the PS3 have an external power brick? If so, get a local one. If not, it's probably got a switching one inside anyway. Check the writing round the plug - it probably says 110-240v in which case so long as you can get a local lead you'll be fine.

Actually, electronics are just as expensive, if not moreso, over there.
At least that's my experience in the 5 or 6 times I've been.

Plus I have loooooooads of PSN games and an upgraded HDD and I just can't be arsed messing with all that again. :)

Just been on the phone with the airline anyway and I should be ok with hand luggage. Even keeping it in it's box !!

Iv had to fly mine from Belfast back home to MK a few times, its best to carry a massive hand luggage bag and wip it in there as when i put it in my hold luggage it couldnt take the odd impact (the trim on the front is snapped a bit now...)

That or get a slim line one as thats a bit better to transport

Took my old 60gb fat one to Lapland last Christmas in a laptop bag as hand luggage, no problems at all :)

PS and PS2 yes, even had the official carry cases for them. PS3 is a bit of a heavy beast though so I'd be a bit more worried about it I think.

Well according to the Lufthansa website, they allow hand luggage up to the dimensions of 55cmx40cmx20cm and up to 8kg.

That fits the box nicely and gives me 2kg to spare :)

Never taken a PS3 but i have taken much more fragile things like sets of glasses through the airport with no issues. You take a risk everytime you do it though. As all it takes would be for one of the guys to drop it or something and you may have issues....

I bought my PS3 from HK actually, and i put it in my actual luggage. It travelled fine, though i did keep it in the original box and put clothes around the box to further protect it. The original PS3 with original packaging weighs about 8kg so bare this in mine with luggage allowance
