PS3 - 'Input signal out of Range'

I'm trying to replace the HDD on a colleagues PS3 but can't get it to display on my TFT. "Input signal out of range".

I'm using an HDMI > DVI connection. Is there anyway of hard resetting the PS3 so it reverts back to factory defaults (i.e. 576).

I'm assuming the PS3 has stored the output signal as 1080p which is why the TFT won't display.

I think if you hold down the power On button on the console itself from an off position for 5 seconds it resets the settings.

Holding down the power button for five seconds as you turn it on will reset the display settings to default.

Excellent - I had read on some sites that holding the pwr switch down for 3 beeps simply enabled a menu which allows factory settings restore. That seemed a bit pointless!

Can I expect the PS3 to display on a 17" TFT (max res: 1280x1024) using the HDMI > DVI cable?
