Evening gents.

Friend of mine has just bought a PS3 and obviously wants to get on line.

Problem is he dosent have a phone line (just uses 3G dongle that came from ISP for his PC). So the question is, is it possible to connect the PS3 to his PC and get on the internet via the 3G dongle ?.

Thanks in advance.

I'm pretty sure that so long as you enable internet connection sharing and use a crossover ethernet cable to the PS3 this will work.

However, if he plans to play online games make sure he understands that the ping with a 3G connection is pretty bad and will likely make gaming in fast-paced multiplayer games not particularly enjoyable.

Indeed, get the PC online then network with shared connection using a crossover cable.

Doubt he'll be able to game online with a 3G dongle though...

Thank You very much guys, super quick response.

Thinks he will have to get his phone line sorted out then. :(
£100 quid reconection fee, that`l please him.

He'll be o.k playing online via the dongle if he is in an HSPA enabled area, pings will be higher than BB users but I find with my 'Three' mobile broadband connection that as long as i'm connected in hspa mode I can compete with standard broadband users without too much frustration, occasionally you'll lose a one on one with a low pinger but you can adapt your play to compensate,I've never been kicked for high ping.

The secret is hspa,3G won't cut it and will lead to a total lag fest. Not sure how many mobile networks offer hspa,Three seem to have largest high speed network at present.
