well we know that a ps3 uses the 7800GTX chip...any PC with a modern dual/quad core CPU and 4GB ram with a 9800 or newer is always going to beat the PS3...
force the ps3 to do 720p in the tougher games, then we shall see who laughs
i own a PS3 and a Quad core PC with 8800GT btw so im hardly a fanboy either way.
although the cell has the potential (i say potential as it's going to take some time for anyone to write the code to exploit it)for very good physics and AI calculating poer, something which the pc cpu is not good at.
however steps are being taken to use GPU's for these purposes as they as well are excellent at the task.
Pc's will always win out through customizability and power.
however console will always win at performance per £ due to the shear amount of optimization that goes into their games, something that cannot happen on the pc ironically due to their asset of being customizable
