Ps3 is faster than any pc...

pc did it back in 1996 with the Microsoft sidewinder ;)

No.....It was the Microsoft Freestyle Pro released in 1998 that had motion sensing ;)

Not really the same tho. That MS pad (whichever it was) just mimicked an analogue joystick with tilt sensing - it didnt really bring anything different to the table. The Wiimote has proper acceleration and optical sensors, and actually has games designed around those features. :)

IMO Console development is making problems for itself, and will end up with all the problems that PC's have after a few more years.

When consoles first came on the scene, they were great, you bought your cartridge (or whatever) plugged it in, and the game was instantly playable. Perfect.

But PC gaming got more and more complex, which the PC gamers could handle becuase they knew a thing or two and could handle installing a game, changing display settings and what-not.

So as a result console gaming has followed the same road, Hard drives and internet connections have wiped out the 'instant fun' of the console. Now you have to wait while the game installs itself, then downloads an update for the game, etc.

These are things which PC games have done for ages but if you asked a PC Gamer what thing most wrong about PC Gaming, it is the fact that developers release a title with the expectation of fixing any problems in later patches (as opposed to better in house testing). So what do the console desingers do? They introduce the 'feature' of download-able updates to the games on their platform, making console game releases just as buggy and problematic as PC gaming can be.

The days of buying a console game and playing it straight out of the box are long gone. And if consoles introduce mouse and keyboard gameplay then again they're going to be in trouble. Suddenly a two tier online gaming community would develop. Those on M+KB and those on pads. And if they introduced PC and console online compatitibility then the same would happen again, I can see "oi! PC boy **** off, you move to fast" coming out of the headsets of 14 year old console gamers already.

The Wii has proven that instantly playerable games are what console gamers want, games that they can mess about in their living rooms playing and graphics dont matter.

So leave the rest to the PC, otherwise in trying to compete, Sony and Microsoft will just be plagued with the same problems that PC's have now and end up uncompetitive. (who would want a PC box that gets new hardware every 6 years when they could buy a PC and update it when they please?)

consoles will soon just be macs that only do gaming there isnt much room for them to go from here.

they are already basicly a pc with more intergrated components to remove chokepoints off the hardware

I couldn't agree more. Which console developer turned his nose up at the idea of developing for the Wii because it wasn't a proper games machine?
This driving focus to get the best graphics possible, but forgetting the things that make the console better for some people than the PC can't be good for them.

Another thing the Wii does better: allowing multiple people to play with a single copy of the game. Getting a family or a group of friends round in front of the same console to play together - but bigger consoles cost more, so they have to maximise their revenue, which means online play, with one copy of the game per player.

"PC Gaming is dying, AMG!!!"

yes? :p

i don't think it is, its just smaller, also PC gaming is stuck with damm consoles.

I do like consoles they are trouble free gaming, and for chavvs who can't turn on a PC need alone use it :p than shout haxor all the time -.- and act all hard

ps3 can do realtime raytraced rendering.

It does take about six of them chained together to do that, but that it can do it at all is pretty cool.

Windows will run on a ps3 anyway afaik If they hadnt disabled the gpu from the open mode it would basically be a full pc anyhow

I don't know why you would any how, like these people who put windows on thier iphone/pods

I would like to see unchartered 2 on the Pc. I read somewhere due to the optimisations made for the cell processor it would take the best available pc to pull it off.. I dont fully believe this myself but the game was a superb example of console optimizing as in my opinion its one of the best looking games on any format....

So hardware can do realtime raytraced rendering? :p

Like most hardware in the computing world? Just been locked down I suppose... :D

I think one of the universities up here had 10+ ps3's and pronounced it as a "super computer". :) Was quite interesting I suppose.
