PS3 keeps turning itself.....ON!!

Sat at my PC tonight after a few years of my PS3 working perfectly and I hear the beep and it's turned itself on. Go over and look at it and the Blu-Ray drive is spinning/trying to load something every few seconds too. Any idea's what the problem could be? Downloaded the latest update last night and been using it today and everything seemed to be fine. Any solutions or anyone had any problems like this?

Done multiple restarts and shut downs etc and when I put the power back on on my PS3, initially the light will be red but then it will just switch itself on and try load something.

HELP!

Might be misunderstanding the problem but is it trying to upload save games etc?
Is there any video signal being sent out when it's doing this?

Sorry if I didn't make it clear, I'm sat 15-20 ft away from my PS3 as it turned on. The cross media bar loads up fine, say's the net has a DNS error but can access menu's etc, all the while the disc drive seem's to be spinning on and off. Puzzling.

Is auto updates on? It would turn on when supplied with power if it still needed to do updates. Could be that although you said about DNS..

Auto downloads are off, never had them on. No remote play, not touched the controller by accident etc.

I had this before, have you got Remote play enabled? Other devices on your network may be triggering the Wake on LAN.

Is it a fat one, as mine does this from time to time and i personally think it happens to others as the slim has a switch for power. I just switch mine off on the back switch and turn it on when needed

It's a fatty. It's hooked up via wireless to the hub. No remote play enables, no ps+ subscription, no auto updates. Really weird, guess it will be staying switched off!
