Has anybody got this working on a Mac, and if so can they explain the process to me? As soon as I launch it I just get the Playstation 3 not found message and nothing I have done seems to alter that. I've tried assigning the Mac a static IP, I've disabled the firewall on the Mac, I've
tried hardwiring both the PS3 and Mac to the router, but nothing. If anybody can offer a step by step guide on how to get this thing working then that'd be great. :)
 
Tried all the above with no success, but I shall give it another go. I have my suspicions that if I went and tried this on my Windows 7 machine it would probably work without too much faffing. I hate Mac's at times. :(
 
So what you are saying to me is that it is best to wire the MacBook up to the router with a network cable and then switch Airport off? I shall give that a try tomorrow, hopefully at some point I will be able to get it working completely wireless although just getting it working by any means would be a small victory at least. :)

I'll give it a try in a minute, I did try hard wiring yesterday but admittedly didn't think to turn the Airport off which as you say could quite easily be interfering with the wired connection. Thanks for the tip. :)


EDIT: You know what? I am an utter, utter retard. I feel almost embarrassed to say this, but I didn't have Media Sharing enabled on the console it's self, so no wonder I couldn't even get the Mac to see the PS3... Big rolleyes for myself :rolleyes:

Now, one more question, when I add a folder to the shared folders on PS3 Media Server (on my MacBook), do I have to disconnect and then reconnect the PS3's connection to my MacBook for the list to be refreshed on the console?

At the moment I'm only streaming music and photos which I think is fine over wireless, I do have some videos that I've purchased from iTunes but it seems to be locked to playback on Apple devices only via DRM, seems like a bit of a kick in the nuts seeing as this is stuff I have actually paid for, but I guess there are always ways around this, although we're unable to discuss them here?

There's a few programs I've found that will remove the DRM on video but they seem to be ones that you have to pay for. Music is easy to remove the DRM although that doesn't seem to be an issue because the PS3 plays all of my music just fine, even the ones that I bought from iTunes and weren't just ripped from a CD. Quite strange, I might just fork out for Apple TV at one stage as I think it's probably worth the money just to cut out the hassle.
