ok this was very easy on XP, so i'm not sure why my new computer and i are having trouble with this.

i've worked out homegroup and everything and how to set that up, and i was able to access stuff on the ps3. but i couldn't actually add anything, so i just had empty folders. now, what i'm trying to do is (and this is how i did it on xp) add my external hard drive on my pc to the things i can watch on my ps3, last time i just added it in media player to the list of filesharing folders. but win7 doesn't seem to be that simple. all i wanna do is be able to watch my external drive on my ps3 (without having to format it so i can just plug it in directly) but media sharing seems to be lame. gimme xp back! anyone know how to do this? surely it's easy and i'm just being dumb

Just download PS3mediaserver and install and job done.

Homeshare on Windows 7 is a right pain at times. I got Media Player 11 on Windows 7 to work, but PS3mediaserver is just so much easier...

ok. this will sound even dumber. but googling that doesn't seem to find me a site that has it, just sites talking about it. you know the main host site?

Goto Network and Sharing, click advanced sharing options on the left, then change all the options so they are like this.

Then right click on the folder you want to share, select properties, then the sharing tab and make the folder shared.
