Just thought I'd give MGS a quick bash.

I've played it for a while during the week then came back to it this morning. Anyway the game loaded up, I loaded my game and then it just went onto the loading... screen.

It was waiting for a minute or so, then I reset the console. Loaded the game up again and it did the same thing after I loaded my save. I heard the trying to be read, although it was very quiet.

I ejected the disc and was presented with this...

Its grease. All of which came off. The disc has been in the console most of the time. I take great care of my PS3 and its only a month or so old.

Anyone else had this? Should I be worried?

Disc is not stratched at all after I wiped off all of the grease.

I just ejected the disc again after having a play and there is a straight line of grease down the middle of the disc about an inch thick, where it has come out of the slot

:(

Something similar happened to me. I popped the disc in, and the game never even got to the first 'Press X' screen. I ejected the disc and it looked really... strange, kinda greasy. But I popped it back in and haven't had any more problems.

But er... an inch thick grease line? Are you sure Inoshishi hasn't been in your house? :D

Just on the phone to Sony PS3 care now,

I explained the problem clearly and she said...

PS3 Girl - "So what you think is causing the problem?"
Me - "I was hoping you would tell me that...."
PS3 Girl - "........I'll just speak to my line manager..."

Think the production team for the drive got a little too friendly with the greese there. Has anyone else been near it? As I caught my little cousin trying to put a refresher bar into my Wii once. (God dam, why did they have to call it a Wii.)

Heh.
The issue I'd be worried about is if it was leaking, when it was to run/wear out it wouldn't be a good thing at all and it could (and probably would) happen outside warranty, destroy the BR drive and possibly whatever was in it.

No one has been near her. She's mint and just over 30 days old. :)

Cheers guys,

Just finshed the call with Sony. I asked if I was getting a new console as Its just over 30 days old. She said no...

So I went kinda mad since its a brand new console, She spoke to her manager and agreed to supply me with a new console. They are swapping it over next week. Now to backup everything :(

Couldnt you of just taken it back to the shop if its just over 30 days? They would have replaced it there and then, you have up to a years warranty with a retail store.

Just called up the store.

The bloke mentioned about as it was a GTAIV bundle and as he had no more left he would not normally just swap the console, but said he would do it.

:)
