The family are getting a ps3 for xmas and i wondered what i need to get with it to have the microphones and like a xmas singing game(if there is one) and what is this ps3 move thing?

PS3 Move is pretty much Playstation's answer to the Wii, if you get that and Sports Champions, it can be a laugh. If you already have the PS Eye you just need to controllers (about £17.99-£19.99 each).

For singing, just pick up a Singstar game, they're quite a few out so just pick the one you think will have the best songs for you and your family. They're Wireless and Wired microphones, the wired ones a a fair bit cheaper. Just look for Singstar Microphones. You can buy extra songs, but they can be a tad expensive.

i have nothing apart from a ps3 160gb

Anyone know if there is xmas sing star?

For Move then you will need - PS3 Eye, PS3 Move Controllers, PS3 Move Game (Sports Champions is good, has about 5 games in it like Table Tennis, Disc Gold, Bowls).
Or you can get the starter pack, but you will need to buy an extra Move Controller if you want to play together.

Singstar - Singstar Microphones, Singstar game

The starter pack only contains one glowing stick and the camera, you also need the motion controller/move stick to play some games

I got the starter pack, 2 motion controllers and a second glowing wand thingy, total cost was £80 and thats not including games, but it means any games you do get you can play 2 player

You should pick up the fight seeing as you've got two controllers, I found it to actually be pretty good. Be warned though, you'll ache for a few days after your first session with it, but after that it's fine.
I'd imagine you can find it for under a tenner these days.

Singstar is what you want. The original comes with microphones but you can get various different Singstar games 80's, 90's, queen, abba, take that etc. There is also a Singstar store on the console which you can buy extra tracks from.

Move is similar to the Wii, which you will need a starter pack for, and an additional wand if you want to play 2players games (£50 total if you shop around).

To be honest i would just get a second hand wii, no point in spending roughly the same on the ps3 move which from what I can tell is the exact same piece of kit with a glowing ball on the end. Normal games with move support are generally awful, and the move only games aren't great either. Except for The Shoot, that is fun I will admit.

With the Wii having been out for a good while you will also be able to pick up older games for buttons, whereas move games are still around the £30-40 Mark for anything half decent.
