I am thinking about getting a ps3 as i love FPS games but i a crap with a joypad. Can u use a mouse and keyboard for the games and if so anyone know if it is any good.

Thanks

you can buy a device that allows it but its pretty much total cheating

everyones crap with a joypad . everyone soon gets better.

Wow super fast replies, thanks guys.

I can sort of use a joypad for football games but dunno if i will ever get used to them for FPS. Havent used a joypad/stick properly since the days of Quickshot II.

You get used to it. It's never going to be as precise or quick as a mouse and keyboard, and it's better in some games and worse in others, but generally you'll soon find yourself enjoying just the same.

I think with me its the case of so many buttons in one little place. I get flustered having a game with my 4 year old on her PS2 - she whips me in her games, she does it on the Wii too on Mario Kart :(

Well I think I will give it a bash and go for one and see how I get on

Actually while you guys are about is this a good deal?

€ 275,00

PS3 Slim 240GB
2 COntrollers
COD Black Ops
MW2
Fifa 2010
WWE 2011
Rapla Rod and Game
Assassin Creed.
Few other games too
All these are original games.
The console also comes with a little device for other things butwont mention its name here.
I was gonna try Ebay for rough price check but its a mare getting on it here half the time.

I have moved from a PC to a PS3 and after a year of using the joypad, I am still nowhere near as good as I am when using a PC. In COD, I have to have a different style of play using the PS3 compared to the PC. Things like running and jumping, changing a weapon at the same time is a pain in the backside.

If there is a way to use a mouse and keyboard, I would sure like to know how cause I am quickly loosing the appeal of FPS games on a PS3. Those that never used a PC are better off as they learnt using the joypad way.

Hi Scream I just had a browse and came across something called the Eagle Eye Mouse and Keyboard Converter. You can connect the mouse and keyboard to this and then the console recognises it as a joypad.
I know it may be classed as a 'cheat' of sorts in the console world but for old farts like me i may have to think about it if i cant get to grips with a joypad.

Will do. Reviews seem to be good. There might be a slight delay when moving around but to me that is acceptable as it takes forever to move around with a controller.

Cheers for the find mate. It has made my day and could be the best £60 spent.

At last! I never got used to the pad either and i'd really like to play the Resistance games without having my ass handed to me on a plate

Those devices are cheating as far as I am concerned, by a pc if you want m/k.

I enjoy playing my ps3 when not on pc yes I suck but its only a game ffs.

I have a gaming PC but all my mates grew up as console users and since they all have PS3's, I had to purchase a PS3 so I could play them. Some may think its cheating but I don't care as long as I am happy.

At the end of the day, the converter will not be as good as the PC but its a big improvement over the controller. Who knows, it could end up being rubbish and I go back to the controller.

Judging by the mention of the "little device for other things", I don't think cheating is high up on his list of concerns.

Excuse me?

If you are implying illegal activities then think again, although it seems that illegal activities may be accepted more than using a keyboard/mouse.

Did you not read what else this PS3 comes with, you really think I am buying this particular console for a little device that i can walk into nearly any console shop and pick up for €20.

Just go back to playing FPS games on the PC then.
With all the assisted aiming in console shooters I don't really see controllers being a huge handicap, and if I couldn't use one after a year I'd be wondering why evolution didn't give me opposable thumbs.

Well it's a fair hop to that conclusion after you said,

What little device is perfectly legal but can't be named?
