PS3 Movie how to switch aspect ratio ?

just started watching a movie that's got subtitles but the picture off the screen at the bottom.

I've had a look at the settings on the main ps3 menu for BD and DVD and tried altering the letterbox and pan and scan settings but with no effect.

I don't think its the film as I can play it through the PC with displays in letterbox with the top and bottom borders and the subs are fine.

Any idea what I can try on the PS3 to fix this ?

Is your tv on cinema or zoom mode?

Try the settings on your TV, it may be that which is the problem.

TV's on 16:9, theres also 4:3 and auto.

pictures fine on sky hd, PC Media centre etc.

Press triangle when watching. Go to screen mode and then have a play there.

Can't see the screen mode

theres 'Display' but all that does is tell you some details about whats playing,

should be to the left of that a bit - next to volume control.

There's, 'Volume' , Then 'Av Settings' , 'Time Options', Display no screen mode

right just put on ratatouille and I can see the Screen option on there. Seem the film 'm watching is a DVD and doesn't give me that option.

Try changing the dvd upscaler option, mines on normal and letterbox.

Is the LCD set to Wide and/or 1:1 pixel mapping?

If the movie is 2.35:1 the black bars at the top and bottom are meant to be there with the subtitles in the black bar at the bottom.

Thats my problem, I'm trying to get the black borders at the top and bottom to show. at the moment the movie looks as if i've turned zoom on so that the image is zoomed in to remove the top and bottom borders.

Problem with this is the subs are partially in the bottom border so there getting cut off.

Don't think its a problem with the TV as SkyHD is perfect my media center is perfect, my old DVD player was perfect.

tried changing the dvd upscaler from off to normal to full screen and no change. also tried altering the 'Pan and scan and letterbox' options and still no change

Might just have to stick with the PC
