PS3 Network, is it just me ... ?

Interesting reports learned something new from some of the posts made.

Guys can someone with both systems start a thread and can we compare all the things on both services. Its not to try and prove one is better than the other its a guide that could show what is possible on one and on the other.

The advantages and differences of both.
Should be a thread that is updated and made a sticky and we can keep it on topic information post not a Vs thread.

Would welcome it if anyones interested...

The guide could also contain details of setting up accounts in different regions like Joebob has mentioned for the PS3 but also the 360 can do this and offer all the USA trailers and Hi Def material with a silver account.

I am also disappointed that you cant do any downloading while doing f@h and playing a standard dvd - both things cause background d/l's to pause for me (even though I updated to 1.6 firmware straight away)

I can appreciate blu-ray playback causing this, but f@h is meant to take only the "spare" capacity rather than actually stop it working completely I thought, and I wouldnt have thought dvd playback to be too taxing either - but hey ho

According to the stanford uni bloke it uses 5 out of the 7spe's think 1 is used for the OS so that leaves 1 spe spare. Not sure how much you can do with that.

Hows that then? Didnt think you can play online with silver?

Even without the ability to play online, you still get the same well designed service, with content such as demos, movies, trailers and the Live Arcade. There are a large number of people who use the online services for what I just mentioned, without playing online games, believe it or not.

Thats fair enough thank you for the info - I was just commenting I thought originally f@h used spare cycles as apposed to actually consuming most lol

Not that it matters - still going to fold but thought poeple would be interested to know

there was a bit on gamespot (think im allowed to mention the site), they had the bloke on talking about it in one of there hotspot things. So far ive only folded when im going out or over night. Think ive done 4 work units so far.
Should be in the folding thread i guess sorry

Look guys this moaning about one costing for their service isnt a major issue to most of us if your sitting with a HDTV and fancy state of the art console. Chances are you dont mind paying for a years online gaming at the cost of a typical game.

MS could decide at any time to stop charging for the service if they felt it was necessary. The reason for this is :

1. They can afford to
2. The new TV services in USA and coming to UK will more than make enough profit from marketplace.
3. Advertisers im sure would love to get involved in a 6million+ user base targeting directly the consumer they want to attract. So advertising could be used to make the service free.

Personally i dont care or see it as an issue as long as they keep the service fast enough and keep improving it listening to the community for new features then i will happily pay it just like i do any other entertainment service.

Im sure some of you will agree.
