hi all,
is anyone else having problems with ps3 reading bluray discs after latest firmware update (3.40)?
since the update any new blu ray discs I try just won't detect.
Discs I have played prior to the update still seem to work(don't know if this is due to stored data in the bd data cache) but anything new is a no go.
games seem fine and dvd's seem ok.anyone having similar problems?

is it reading normal DVDs? what about games do they freeze during gameplay?....i had same kind of issue 2 months ago when firmware 3.30 came...i called up Sony and they replaced mine with new ps3..... Try this out first

Try and access the the recovery menu.

Quote:
How to Access Playstation Recovery Menu

1. Turn off Playstation®3.
2. Hold The power button down; The system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be promted to plug in your controller via usb and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.
Try the restore filesystem and rebuild database options, and if it still doesn't work put the 3.30 update on a memory stick then try to reapply it using the system update option.

also try to Full format the HDD from the recovery menu its gona take several hours.....well it didnt worked for me but i tried evry bit before giving up

all is ok now, I restored default settings and it seems to have done the trick.
tried monsters vs aliens 3d but it doesn't recognise 3d bluray movies. Apparantley the 3d update only works for 3d games at the moment. Would have been nice to see how 3d movies look on the ps3 but it seems we may have to wait till the autum for a further 3d update.
not such a big problem at the moment as there aren't any 3d blurays out yet(except for the one mentioned).
