Hey guys,

Just got a new 2 metre HDMI cable for my PS3 as I've moved it and my old 1m didn't reach. Plugged it in expecting it to work, but it doesn't... I've tried it from the PS3 to a monitor with the same cable and it's fine, but to the TV it doesn't like it. Works fine on the TV with my old cable. Any ideas?

Likely a duff cable.

Send it back and get a refund.

Ideally you could do with testing on something else just to confirm. Mates house ?

Tried resetting PS3 video settings?

Plug PS3 into TV and hold the power button when you switch it on for roughly 5 seconds until it beeps an extra time. This should reset all graphical settings, PS3 often has issues when switching between displays etc.

Ginger step child etc.

This is the best thing to try first. Let us know if it worked.

Yeah, that was the first thing I tried.

I'm not sure if the cable is dead or not as it works if I connect my PS3 to my PC monitors with it, but obviously that isn't ideal!

what resolution are you running your PS3 at on the monitor ?

Its possible the TV doesnt support it and you need to reset it back to SD so you can see the signal. (see above for instructions)

Monitor is 1080p, TV on the other HDMI cable is 1080p

I've tried reverting it back to SD whilst using the monitor so I can actually get a picture up, no joy.

It's just a duff cable mate. I've had it before, With my old 32" tv and ps3 I'd get random goings on like screen going etc, Worked fine with other cables. Tried same cable in my mates ps3 on his tv and it was fine.

Just get a new cable. :)

I'll go give it a shot on my brothers PS3 and TV and then try his cable on mine!

E: Right... That's weird. It works fine on my brothers and his is working on mine.

At least it's working now! Thanks for the help all :)
