Quick question, always forgot to ask.

My brother bought a PS3 about 2 years ago or so, a 40GB system. He has always had to re-enter his AV settings when he goes to use it - it defaults to low res, and stereo audio and he has to go in and set it to 1080p & optical out.

Is there a known fix for this, or anyone else experienced it? It did it from new, but he never bothered sorting it.

TIA

Does the TV support 1080p? Maybe it doesn't so the PS3 reverts back to a usable resolution.

He could try switching the hdmi cable or trying a different TV.

Thats just a guess of course, i don't even know if it's possible. :p

Yeah, holding down the power button resets the AV settings, but i think that only works when the console is off to begin with.

cheers folks useful suggestions.

The TV does indeed support 1080p, i have suggested he tries a different HDMI cable and/or plug but i doubt thats the issue as the sound goes too?

I'll check with how he's turning it off, and get him to use the remote. I would imagine he would anyway though as its tucked away a little.

Anything else gratefully received...

Its a Panasonic Viera Plasma 42" 1080p - dount there would be any obvious ones, but i'll take a ganders.

So you think it could be this even though his Optical Audio out to his amp keeps being forgotten as well? Thats whats stopped me trying this before now.

It COULD be. It resets both the Audio and Video settings. From memory i think it even resets the background picture.
