PS3 Not Showing Pic?

Hi guys one of my mates has just sold his PS3 to his boyfriend but hes having problems getting a picture?! The only thing i can narrow it down to is that my mate had a HDTV using 1080i and his boyfriend is only using a standard tv! Is it not showing a picture as the ps3 is still set to output 1080i or should it know when its connected to a standard tv via scart? The other thing i think it could be is that he is using a normal scart connector not the one that comes with the ps3?

Any help appreciated!

I'd advise you trade it in for a 360

Yeah that really helps the OP, its like people who infect PSP threads with 'Trade it for a DS' or 'Shoulda got a DS.' Even less help in that it isn't the OP's PS3!

Anyway, if he holds down the on/off button for a few seconds, when you let go the console will double beep, when it does this, the video settings should have reset and it should work then.
