I am wanting to buy a 27''monitor for my pc the monitor has both dvi and hdmi connections. I will be connecting my pc via dvi and having speakers from my pc.

Connecting my ps3 via Hdmi the problem i am going to have is how to get sound for my ps3 as the monitor does not have speakers.

Any Ideas thanks!

Can the PS3 use HDMI and the AV multi out simultaneously? If so, you could connect some speakers to the AV multi cable audio connectors.

I have my PS3 with sound outputting through AV and HDMI. Its called multi-output.

You need to find a dongle that can link the red and yellow cables for a 3.5 mil jack? (The AV cable in the PS3 box plugged into speakers via the dongle...)available from certain highstreet store called M****n).

Anyway I can listen to the PS3 via the TV and the speakers I have by it. Works great. I stuck two Creative T20's on either side, nice bit of bass etc useful for Headphone jack too, way better then TV's headphone jack (LG tv headphone port sucks).

Hope that makes sense :)

Cheers

Von

I kind of understand what you mean but can you also listen to the pc sounds with the same speakers without having to disconnect speakers from ps3 then plugging into the pc?

i.e.
ps3 -> speakers < - pc

I think that depends on the speakers. Most have multi inputs into them but you can only listen to one at a time.
My old Logitech G51's have the AUX input and that will output sound from that and the main inputs simultaneously.
How ever I don't think this is normal, are there any other PC speakers that do this?
Looks like those Z-3's only have 1 input though.

yep your right the z3 only have 1 input.

do you know of a sounds card that can input via optical then output via the 3.5mm jack to speakers?

X-Fi Xtreme Audio, the blue PCB version, would be the cheapest card that has optical input. X-Fi Titanium and Xonar D2/X also have, but are considerably more expensive.
