I haven't long bought a PS3 and have GT5, although its a bit sucky with a controller!

I have a G27 I want to use for it but my TV is in the corner on my desk and I can't set the wheel up and play on the tv. I use the wheel for PC games but want to try it on GT5 now.

If I want to get it on my PC monitor do I just need a DVI switch (monitor has DVI/VGA only) and a HDMI to DVI cable? Do I need to worry about HDCP at all? I know my monitor has it but does the switch need to compatible as well?

if monitor isnt hdcp youll need and HDfury cable (60quid) which'll pump hdmi to vga.

if it IS hdcp, then your good to go with a dvi to hdmi :) as far as i know. just plug the sound into some speakers or something?

I have optical plugged in to the back of the PS3 and in to my Z5500 so that is ok.

Just need a switch now to be able to use the PS3 on monitor as well as PC obviously.

Brilliant cheers just needed clarifying. Stupid amounts from a certain high street store but ebay seem reasonable price.

I have my xbox, ps3 & pc hooked up to my monitor via a DVI switch, you'll obviously need to output the sound from the PS3 separately to your PC speakers with an AV cable as well as the HDMI cable. Edit: it seems you have this covered.

Although I have not tested it some switches may not me HDCP compliant and may not support 1080p. I have an Aten Cubiq switch and it works fine with all of the above, but not cheap.

I have my PS3 plugged in to a monitor with a HDMI to DVI cable and use the AV cable and an adapter to plug it in to computer speakers, works rather well.

Yeah just looking at one of those switches I was going to buy it doesn't support 1080p not sure if that is a huge problem as PS3 games aren't native 1080p are they?

Yeah just looking at one of those switches
You mean the Aten?

Some games are 1080p like Wipeout but most are 720p or less. I would still want to go for 1080p.

I have the Aten CS1764A and it definitely supports 1080p & HDCP.

yeah that switch is considerably more than I am willing to spend.

Was looking at some HI Q thing but I dislike the cables coming from back and sides looks ugly. There is one that has all the inputs/outputs on the back which is a much neater look.

That's one of the reasons I got the Aten, most of the other switches had cables coming out of all sides which would make a right mess and the aten comes with most of the cables needed.

It's also nice to have that headphone jack on the front of the switch too, easy to get audio from anything to the headphones.

The only problem I have with the thing at the moment is that for some reason the built in auto switching doesn't want to switch back to the PC when I power off a console, it seems that for some reason the PS3 is making it think that it is still on.

Would a simpel DVI splitter work instead of a box? I have the audio running via toslink anyway so theres no need for that.

Only trouble is the few I did see have a max res of 1024 and others have no information on that.

I've got a £8 logik switch, which can be picked up from the bay very easily 1080p / hdpc compliant. However I believe all of them will be both as its effectively a little bit of hdmi / dvi cable

I use a HDMI to DVI cable on my Dell P2210H.
The PS3 "start screen" is 1080p, but when in games, goes to 720p.
I get sound from my Corsair SP2500's.
