PS3 on Pioneer 428xd plasma 720p only ???

Hi

wrong the pioneer can process 1080p/24 from a ps3 over hdmi or anything else for that matter and this is what you should set your ps3 to doesnt matter about the resolution the processing in the pioneer is one of the best.

Ive got a 436xde and on that I can play Blu-ray movies from my PS3 at 1080p/24 but it wont upscale DVD at 1080p, I was told on AV forums that its because my plasma will accept 1080p/24 but wont accept 1080p/60 which is what the PS3 upscales DVD to.
Im not sure about games though ? I presume these are 1080p/60 so I guess the best I can get is 1080i.
Im not sure if this is the same as on the newer 428 though but like F0rb said its still probably better than most peoples TV's anyway.

Don't worry, 720P on your will look much better then 1080P on most people's TVs.:D
How do you come to that conclusion?

It's gonna look bad close up regardless of the TV because it's being stretched to a bigger screen.

Also 1080P Blu-Ray > 720P, always. Unless your TV is seriously crap.

If he wants to get the best out of blueray fillms then he should set the ps3 to 1080p/ 24 output giving smoother motion handling and clarity.

Games will still look fantastic no matter what settings he sets it to aslon as its not 480p.

Since it's plasma, it has better colour, no motion blur and better black level. The difference of 720p and 1080p disappeared if you view the tv from more than a few feets away plus most PS3 games don't run more than 720p so you don't get much gain from upscaled 1080p.

To back this up, 428xd is the best 42" screen around regardless of plasma or LCD.

And with plasma and games you'll get screenburn

Wrong, at normal distances you'll see the difference, are you saying that because you own a 720p screen?

As barnettgs say screen burn is not a issue with pioneer screens and even though his screen resolution is 1,024 x 768 the screen can process 1080p at 24fp and show blue-ray films as they were intended smooth without any judder thanks to pioneers 72 hz mode.

Blue-ray 1080p

games -720p

Maybe I'm missing something obvious here, but how can a tv with a max resolution of 1024 x 768, do 1080p?

1080i, ok I get that, but 1080p, true 1080p?

It takes the 1080p input and scales it to the screen's native resolution, so your inpur device has no scaling to do.

Technically there will be scaling involved no matter what he picks due to the 1024*768 his Plasma will have to do some scaling, so it's all a moot point really.

My TV is 1366*768 but can accept 1080p signals etc. Tried it with PS3 set to both 720p and 1080p. Can;t see a difference (wouldn't expect to on a 32 inch screen)

What modern LCD's have motion blur? Only old ones have over 8ms response time.

As for colour well I disagree, black levels sure maybe they do look better on some sets but for as for me black levels are not an issue, my parents Panasonic Viera is better for Freeview and that but when it comes to my PS3 there really is not a difference in quality, my PC however is a different story, my LCD blows the Plasma away because it can do 1080P, the Plasma can't.

Care to back that up with own cash? I've seen recent Pioneers with screenburn

Funny that I was going to buy one today for £1250 but the offer had finished.

If you have seen image retention on the pioneers then its because the owners have not been looking after there set very well the pioneers has two modes which help to reduce the occurrence of image retention if you looked at them in a big store then its now wonder they had image retention.

There are lots of pioneer plasma owners who use there 360/ps3 for hours on end and never have problems with image retention.
