Hi all,

Think i'm, in about the right place here....networking etc. (if not, sorry mods, no doubt you'll move it for me ;))

I'm trying to set my PS3 (v3.40) so that i can (obviously) play all my media currently stored on the WHS shares. My WDTV Live worked fine, but i wanted a BD player, so replaced it with the PS3.

However, the PS3 sees my media server; the WHS, but when i click on it it says "A DLNA protocol error (501) has occured".

It also says this when trying to access the media servers from the video menu:
Access to the media server is not allowed. It is possible that the system name for the PS3 system "PS3-954" has not been registered.
Check the settings for the media server

Haven't got a scooby doo what that really means.

Now, do i need to install PS3MS or similar on my WHS first? I previously had it installed when i tested the xbox360's media centre capabilities....and found out it sucked (the xbox, not PS3MS)!

I actually didn't think i'd need any 3rd party software, but if i do, then no biggie.

Advice would be much appreciated, thanks.

Also, once i get it working, what's the best format video file to use so that the PS3 recogonises and plays all thats on the WHS, with 5.1 and dts etc?

Thanks.
