PS3 Online Gaming

Being a PS3 noob (7days old) went to go online and play MS and R : FOM last night about 10pm GMT

i was able to login to my ps3 account browse the internet, however unable to connect to both online server games, "network connection error or something like that"

this morning everything was fine, im guessing the gaming servers were down

is this normal ?
was this for all uk ps3 users ?
how ofter do the servers go down ?

Was the same with F1 at 10pm last night.
 
They were doing maintenance to the servers last night.

Not sure if it was at 10pm, but I tried logging in to the PlaystationStore and got the message, at which I was a bit :eek: at first. You'd think they'd do it in the early hours...

there should really be a message saying "gaming networks down maintenance" or say on the main home webpage a status link. its a bit shabby.. imho
