Started playing more recently online with my PS3, playing Warhawk, COD4, MGS4 online. I've got myself a little Jabra bluetooth headset which from using with my phone I know works perfectly.

Why oh why however is all the voice chat in these games complete garbage? I'm not talking about just screaming kids etc, but everything sounds like complete gibberish!

I've played around with my PS3 settings and even double checked that my router is properly configured with the PS3 and it's all 100% fine.

The voice chat is just garbled noise which has to be muted all the time.

Anyone else getting the same thing?

The problem isn't between your headset and PS3, it's the compression of the audio as it's sent over the net. While the jabra is fine when used on a phone due to a lack of compression, it tends to suffer online (why they supplied it with warhawk even though it sucks i dunno) i'm thinking due to the rather poor speaker in the earpiece.

A blutooth headset that is actually usable is the gioteck EX-01, it looks horrible but i can talk to people and make sense of their replies.

If possible use a USB headset though as it's just better.

Yep, I've moaned about this multiple times on these forums.

Bluetooth Headsets suck royal sock, USB would work but that still only solves the issue at your end, plus I haven't got one that stretches over to the sofa. :(

,for some reason though i cant seem to get the sound routed through them, but chat does it no problem

That's the way the PS3/360 are designed. The headsets only output chat so ideally you want a headset with only one earpiece like the one supplied with the 360.

I've replaced my bluetooth headset for a USB one and its 10x better.

Much clearer and does not disconnect all of the time. I found that I would keep having to check if the bluetooth headset was paired.
