PS3 or xbow 360 most powerful

To be honest OP, I’d be tempted to tell both you and your work colleagues to stop being so sad – why try to justify your purchase/enhance your manhood? Surely you bought the PS3 as it appealed to you, not because “itz got wikkid mad powerz init!!!!”, likewise they probably picked up 360s for the same reason.

For me the 360 and PS3 I have are my first foray back into console gaming since my last console – a Dreamcast, and it seems to me that childish fanboy arguments are even more rife now, granted the internet is now a huge factor in bringing these types of people together.

Just be happy with what you have, if you’re lucky enough to own both, do it – that way you can happily sit on the fence in all arguments such as this, as you own both and like both :)

If you go out and buy your consoles on the premise of which is more powerful, rather than which has the better games. You're a sad sad sad sad sad man.

Power does not equate Sexy Games.

it doesnt really matter because game devs will develop a game to run well on both.. sometimes a game might look slightly better on 1 console as oppsed to the other but theres not usually much in it.

i prefer ps3 pad though.

I know it's a hard decision guys but in reality Forza 3 tips the balance towards the 360. :D

Consoles are toys and cost at most £300 or so. I used to spend more than that every 2 months on repalcing graphics cards on my PC.

Which is one of the reasons I gave up PC gaming – there is a potential to spend ridiculous amounts trying to keep on the bleeding edge of performance, thankfully I wasn’t sad enough to care about this and built a system every 3-4 years; spending huge amounts like that every two months is idiotic.

You can’t argue though, it’s nice to just pop a disc in an away you go (maybe an install), no worry about hardware drivers not being supported/offering the best performance, no need to tweak in-game settings to get the thing to play well, and no hidden ini file tweaks to eek every last optimisation out.

I now own a PS3 and Xbox 360 instead, knowing its a compromise. Without starting anything, the Xbox 360 walks all over the PS3. The PS3 is used solely as a media station for movies. The controller is the deciding factor for me - and that my friends - is why I will always opt for Xbox over PS3. Of course though, nothing will ever beat a keyboard and mouse!

Same here, I got the 360 first and that was my first console since PC gaming took hold back in ’98 (thank you Thief!) and I still love it to this day, but such shoddy hardware puts a massive dent in my confidence with it, the PS3 however, has never skipped a beat, and imo has the best pad for FPS games.

My ideal console would be a PS3 with the features of Live, PSN is nothing more than a total joke imo, I was never blown away by it, and god knows how many years down the line, it is still lacking some of the most basic feature that Live came boxed with on day one – this, for me, is the only thing that dents the PS3’s reputation. The 360 can keep the dashboard though, that has just become some bloatware, I love the simplicity of XMB.

whats an xbow is this a new version :D
This is the xbow and it's certainly more powerful than the PS3;)

As for the original question - i'd say the PS3 is more powerful going by uncharted 2.Nothing comes close on the 360.
I would like to see a game made for the 360 built from the ground up with a graphic engine made just for the 360.

I think I'm going to save my judgement for Alan Wake, which is now a 360 exclusive, as that looks pretty graphically impressive.

How about Halo 3?

i own both consoles and have always been into my 360 but uncharted 2 on the ps3 is without a doubt one of the most amazing looking games i have ever seen (and i own a performance pc aswell) I mean it is just incredible, i generally ps3 has just that bit more power
