PS3 overheating

I had three shutdowns this weekend when playing GTA IV: TBOGT when it was 29 degrees in the house, I began to think my PS3 was dying but after blowing into all the vents it hasn't shutdown again

My 40GB PS3 used to do this.

Do you have a 15 blade fan installed? If you do then you can get a replacement 19 blade one which shifts more air. This fixed my PS3 - the fan does go to level 2 after about 20 minutes but does not go on full like before. I also replaced the thermal paste.

google 'Talismoon 19 blade'

I found out why my PS3 was shutting down, if I turn it on the fan is off, if I start GTA Liberty City Stories right away the fan somehow never turns on and the machine overheats, if I wait with starting the game until the fan starts running the game runs fine.

From what i hear the talismoon fan isnt great at all. The Original 19 blade PS3 fan makes a lot of difference...

I have to do mine as its doing it all the time now while playing Red Dead.

yer thanx guy i have tryed hovering it out and that has made a slight difrence (the fan takes a little longer to go full out) i think i am going to replace the thermal paste

My Red Dead has been crashing too. To be honest its the only game that has ever crashed for me so thought it was Red Dead tbh. Mine does noticeably run louder than it used to mind. My lounge gets so hot with the PC and TV/Hifi stuff all on and the sun shining through the window. Like a greenhouse. I've been contemplating getting a slim but are they that much better in all honesty? Where do you get this different original 19 blade fan from then and how do you tell if you have a 15 blade or not without opening it up?
