PS3 owners, a question about the bluray remote

Hi,

I've got an old 40GB PS3 I'm planning to use for iPlayer, 4OD and ITV/STV Player. Does anyone with the official bluray remote know if and/or how well these apps are supported by the remote? I'd like to get one as I'm loathe to spend more than the console cost on picking up another dualshock pad.

Alternately does anyone have experience with 3rd party remotes? I presume by their use of USB dongles they emulate a wired controller so would work without issue?

Thanks!

The remote Should be compatible I have one by never use it, got it free with the ps3, it pairs like a normal controller and can be used to navigate all the menus so would imagine I will be fine for the tv apps. Can test it if you want.

The remote does work with these apps, though no better than the controller. And in the case of iplayer and 4od the controller is actually easier for us to use.

We do however love the remote and don't regret its purchase as we watch a lot of blu-ray's, but if it wasn't used for blu-ray's it would literally never get used.

4OD is just a website so the remote doesn't work too well on that yet, but it's fine for iPlayer (which is a proper app now) and excellent for playing DVD/BD and media files.

Just to back up Voice, DVD/Bluray playback and iPlayer work very well with the remote, 4od does not due to just being a HTML/Flash website.

Thanks for the advice, everyone, I've just gone for another dualshock. Trying to navigate 4od and ITV is a nightmare with just the dpad buttons
