PS3 Pal 1.6 Firmware

Hi all,

Any ideas where this is downloadable from in preperation for the big day tomorrow?! The UK Sony site is absolutely hammered, and I can't seem to find it for download elsewhere

Any clues?

However, the firmware on the US site is exactly the same - I verified this by a SHA1 check and the US download site is here:

Apparently not, it was only released yesterday/today and the euro PS3 units would have been boxed up in preperation for shipping weeks ago. Reminds me of the european PSP launch - they shipped with 1.52 but the demo UMD with 2.00 was bunged in the box because it obviously wasn't ready in time.

Just stick it on a USB stick and locate it from there on the PS3?

Not updating mine, waiting for them homebrew exploits. 1.52 and 1.54 I bet were security updates, thats why im keeping 1.5.

You can do it from any USB storage device - just create a folder called PS3 then a subfolder called UPDATE and chuck the PUP file in there. I'm not sure if you can update it from, say, a CDR but it could be worth a try - again, just create a PS3 folder then an UPDATE subfolder. Maybe someone else can confirm whether or not this works.

If it doesn't, and you have no other storage device, then don't worry too much. Just use the update option on the console itself. With that said, USB drives are dirt cheap now anyway.

It does, but let's face it the service will be hammered tomorrow, so I'd rather have it downloaded and ready for when I get home from work

From the look of things I *might* be able to install it from a cdr if I burn to disc as an image...
