PS3 patch sizes?

Why are PS3 game updates so huge compared to Xbox? I loaded up Bad company 2 for first and gotta download a 1.7gb patch which means by the time it's finished and then waiting for it to install i'll be tired and be in bed -.-

I bet xbox versions like 10mb :|

Why wouldn't it, they're free providing you've entered the VIP code.

Oh, that's what the codes for? Then I might have to enter it and this *may* have been worth it. Still, waiting for over an hour to play a game is stupid..
