PS3: Playing .avi files on it

Hello all,

How do I go about playing any .avi movies on a PS3?

On my 360 I just put them on a USB stick and the 360 is able to browse all the relevant folders, however the PS3 doesn't seem to be able to do this?

Can someone enlighten me... thanks.
 
Stick all your video files in a folder called 'video' in the root dir of your USB stick and then it'll recognize them, they can be in any folder structure you want as long as it all begins with a folder called video. Either that or point at the USB stick in the XMB, press triangle and then select 'view all'.
