Hey Guys,

Anyone else have this problem? I insert a CD, obtain the tracklist then play the CD. It plays the CD, as i can see the timer going up when i press select, but i get no sound at all.

It plays all other sound fine. Plays games fine, dvds fine etc..

Has my diode died? Going to give sony a ring i think. And its out of damn warranty. Last time i ever buy launch day anything!

Surely if the CD diode was faulty then it wouldnt read the CD at all? Can you copy the CD to HD and see if that plays, is it all CD's? If you have any try a PS1 disk game just to check if its going to read it, i always thought that the DVD/CD diode was the same thing now? Sounds a bit strange if you ask me though.

I'll go and try both things you have said!

Plays PS1 games and importing works.

I then went into the sound settings and unticked some of the Linear PCM's and now it works.

Woo!

You have the audio settings to high, go into the ' Music Settings ' then into 'Audio CD Output Settings' ... and set it to 48kHz ( your equipment must not be able to output the ' 44.1/88.2/176.4kHz ' settings.

That should do it.
