I know theres a few PlayTV users here, not sure if this is best placed here or the Home Cinema forums. Lets see if I get any useful responses before I throw the POS out
Was wondering if someone could help me with the issue Im having with PlayTV, ever since a channel refresh I did last week its been crashing constantly. Before I was on the lastest update and all was fine, but it had been ages since I had done a channel refresh and with the analogue switchoff in my region I couldnt delay it any longer.
Ever since then I just cant use the damn thing, it seems as soon as it idles on part of the GUI for a few minutes or doesnt like a controller input (usually back) it either:
At the moment I just cant watch TV on it so having to turn it on when I know its not recording, record something and wait til its not recording to go back in so I can dump it to the XMB to watch it.
Ive already wiped the PlayTV game data (learnt that trick when it started to crash on the launch screen when the new update hit) twice so set it up from scratch and it still happens. My HDD is pretty full but its been like that for absolutely ages so cant see that being the direct issue. I could wipe the PS3 but loathed to do that as I know backup would take days. I am getting worried it will eventually corrupt my HDD, or maybe this could be symptomatic of a failing HDD so maybe I need to replace it? Its a WD Blue 320GB which Ive probably had for around 3years now...
Not sure what to do other than a complete backup/wipe/restore or changing the HDD. Just think its more to do with the flaky PlayTV software than anything...

- just crashes either forcing me to quit where it goes back to the XMB
- or quit where it eventually double beeps and restarts the PS3
- or locks out (either magically going to a black screen or just freezing any controller input) where Im forced to manually switch it off and enjoy the error report it sends and then the file system check
At the moment I just cant watch TV on it so having to turn it on when I know its not recording, record something and wait til its not recording to go back in so I can dump it to the XMB to watch it.
