Need to remember you can't play UK PS2 games on a US PS3.

It is down to the NTSC/PAL thing. Is Australia PAL? if so then you wont get the backwards compatibility anyway.

what if people dont want a 2nd console hooked up

also the ps3 has ps2 upscaling

a normal ps2 on a hdtv will look terrible

PS2 games upscaled on a PS3 still look terrible - it's really not that much of a plus point.

I have a PS2 but its on its way out me thinks and i dont want to buy another one.

Plus i want some of the other little willy waving features:p
