Ok so shoot this thread down and lock it if its been discussed...

$600 for a console??? You must be joking.

The xbox launched for $400 in the us, and had a hefty enough price tag here, so what on earth is is this gonna be when it gets released here, cos we all know the exchange rate doesnt work like it should.

Have Sony made any official announcements here yet?

i hope at m$ they are clever enough to use wisely this opportunity.
this price is plain stupid.... and the obsolete controller doesn't help the look of the console.

Personally £341 for a PS3 (as reported in Daily Mail this morning) isnt so bad.

Of course it would be better to have been nearer the magic £300 but nowhere near the predicted horror story prices people where saying a few months ago

£340 would be for the cheaper one

The base unit while cheaper, also has some important features missing that it's big brother will enjoy. For one, the machine won't have any WiFi capabilities at all. It will also lack an SD/memory card reader and most importantly will not have any HDMI support.

599 Euros and 499 Euros for the two different versions Europe... factoring in Exchange rates and VAT, it looks as though it will be something like £479 and £399 for the two versions in the UK.

The Daily Mail seems to have simply done a straight US dollar conversion into Pounds Sterling, which is quite ludicrous to do in this industry...
