ps3 pricecut in uk?

Sorry, I don't mean to sound like I'm having a pop at anyone, it's just all the tosh about trying to justify an expensive purchase, when in reality they should be going mental too!
Or maybe they knew there would be a lack of games when they bought it - what with it being a new launch and all?

I don't know about others but I have had some good fun playing the few games I have had on my PS3. Granted if you are a serious gamer and have a lot of time to game each day/week then the launch selection isn't going to tide you by for long, but if you are a casual gamer like me who only gets the chance to game for about ten hours or so each week then it's great.

I'm definately not trying to justify the purchase. It is what it is and that's a console which was only launched in the UK a few months ago - give it time ffs. I bought mine for the long term and look forward to many happy years of gaming from it ;)

Ironically, you prove your own point.
But, ironically I wasn't being pedantic but sarcastic! Are you sure your not American being as though you don't get irony?

Well, I bought mine about 5 months in, off the back of all these PS3 nuts harping on about Motorstorm and RfoM being the best games ever since sliced bread set foot on the moon like......oh, and the fact it was £270 instead of £425+ :p

As far as Sony is concerned, a price cut isn't going to make their console sell. A few huge exclusive titles will, I think. 2008 will be the PS3's year - unless there is something I am really not seeing.

They might even introduce price drops on the PS3 next year instead. I'd certainly buy one with some big titles and a smaller cost :)

If you weren't proving your own point earlier, you certainly are now. Quit digging and let it go. ;)

Im wondering why isn't lots of games releasing for the PS3? why are they crawling out? usually when a console releases the games bomb out to keep the supply and demand.

You can surf the interweb on the ps3? If so then screw buying a pc for uni, i'll get a 32" samsung and a ps3 instead :O

There's basically two issues.

1) a lot of people buying the PS3 have or have had a 360, thus meaning they aren't going to pay £40 for a game they have played, or can get cheaper on the 360. This only leaves the exclusives which have been a mixed bag so far.

2) Although Sony seem to have turned it around (after watching E3) I don't think they were giving developers the support as long as Microsoft had, meaning that developers were/are able to develop for the 360 a lot faster and easier than the PS3.

In saying that Sony seem to have turned that around, and there's a pretty good surge of games coming over the rest of the year, but I agree it has been slow up to now :-/

Early signs from the developers has been fairly positive so far with additional content and improvements for the PS3. Although up to now there haven't been enough, most have rushed out for the launch of the console or to come out at the same time as the 360 version.

Seems like the price cuts done a good Job in the US shifting PS3s. Its been top seller on amazon games section all week and sold over 300 consoles over night. Many of the US retailers have sold out of them as well. Not sure if its selling better now they have announced a "get them while there here" with the 60Gb limited availability. I expect come September/October the same thing will happen with the 80 GB and there will be another price drop. Im guessing that if so it will be a worldwide price drop announced ready for the Holiday season and in some way take a bit of hype away from Halo.
