PS3 Problem - No Voices in Games...?

Hi guys,

So i have been playing my ps3 happily for a while now. However i took the console round to my inlaws the other day to show my father in law a game. His TV is a Sony Bravia (unsure of model), it is connected via HDMI (have tried several cables) yet when you play any games there is sound like music, sound effects but just no voices.

For example on Fight Night Champion there is no voices nor is there any commentary.

If i play the PS3 on my TV i have full sound etc (Samsung TV) - point to note i do use an Onkyo AV Reciever and 5.1 surround sound. However, my father in laws TV and settings are all normal, his 360 works on the same TV and HDMI cable fine and the PS3 sound settings are 5.1 & 2 channel.

Hope you can help guys as this one has got me stumped!

I've had this problem before and the fix (for me) was to re-run the sound setting wizard setting it to auto - each time is was reconnected to a different TV (Sony & Amp > Toshiba).

Had me stumped for a while.

It sounds to me that the PS3 is trying to output 5.1 audio, and the TV isn't downmixing the centre channel to 2.1? Double check that none of the 5.1 output settings are ticked in the audio output settings.
