PS3 Problem,

Hello all,

My PS3 is being odd, I bought/downloaded a game from PSN, It installed ok but when I went to play it, it just hung up on a blank screen I left it a good 20mins as I thought it was loading, anyway I had to turn off the PS3 from the mains socket just to get it off, and now my problem is when I start my PS3 it comes up with a little message sbout how it was not turned off right and some files COULD be corrupted and that it could take 2/3 hours to sort out, ok I thought so I pressed X left it two hours and it crashed on a blank screen again.

I can get it to XMB but I cant do anything from there like play games or watch movies as it crashes on the blank screen.

Any Idea's on how to sort this out without me needing to format the HDD?

Start in recovery mode:

You want to use the 'Restore File System' and 'Rebuild Database' options. You'll have to go back into recovery mode to do the second one as the console will restart each time.

In future, if it happens again, try holding down the power button for 5-10 seconds rather than turning the console off at the plug. Even if it's completely crashed, that should still turn it off.
