I use my PS2 for PS1 games quite often. I play all the old FFs on it.
That database only has the US versions. For one thing I know that the american FFV had problems on the PS2 but the EU one is fine. Not to mention the FF anthology package has different games in the EU version.

Because it's a PS2 game that's already been out in Japan since march. No need to make a PS3 version since it seems it works fine on the PS3 anyway.Nickg said:any reasons why FFXII wont be PS3?
Yeah I was just pointing out that there won't be a PS3 version of FFXII. Sorry I think my post was slightly ambiguous.Nickg said:sorry, i meant PS3 plays the PS2 version of FFXII, and thats why backward compatability is a good thing?
Weebull said:That's pretty shoddy stuff.
ian flowers said:we will have full compatability unlike the xbox 360 where they have had to it via software.
Wrathamon said:It was (and still is) Sony's plan to do the PS2 and PS1 backwards compatiblity via a software emulator, but in order to get backwards compatibility in the launch consoles they put the single-chip combined Emotion Engine and Graphics Synthesisor from the PS2 into the PS3 hardware. (They haven't said the reasons why they failed to get software emulation going yet...!)
But Sony have reitterated since the launch that they still plan to do the backwards compatibility via emulation software and remove the legacy PS2 parts in a future hardware revision.
