I'm picking up a second hand PS3 tonight

160gb slim PS3 boxed with all accessories as new with one controller in excellent condition
Bought in december with 10 month warranty
HDMI cable
Three games - BF3, Modern warfare 3, Assassins creed revelations

Questions -
Will ask for the receipt for warranty
How do I get playing online with BF3, do I just enter my wireless key?
Will the person already be registered and can I create a new soldier and start from scratch? (I dont want all his stats)

Any other questions I should ask?

I've not played BF3 but most games like that are usually tied to your PSN account. I'd imagine if you create a new profile on the PS3 and then use your PSN account on that profile you can create a new character.

With regards to getting online, some games use an online pass system. It's a one use code in the game box that lets you use the online features. I think BF3 uses a pass so you'll probably need to buy a new one from the store. Although, if the previous owner has left his profile and psn account logged in, you'll be able to use his online pass.

However I woulnt recommend using some other guys account as it is illegal. Its tied to his address, his details, possibly his bank card etc and so you would be commitinga crime so delete the PS3 and restore to factory settings. You will have to buy an online code for BF3 IF he has used it already butif he hasnt use the one in the box. If you have to buy the code its 9.99 I believe

Additionally thinking about it you need to ask the guy if he has registered the consoles serial to his account. If so he'll need to log in to his psn account on a computer and remove the ps3 from his account otherwise you wont be able to link and register the account to your PSN account

thanks for info.

Is he able to login to his account and change the details to my address, name etc, and also the login details? This way I guess the games will also change and i wont need to buy online codes]

edit - He gave me the info for his account and I have changed to my name, email, address etc. It has the games assigned, I will have to use his gamer tag but this isnt a problem (only played 3 minutes of BF3)

If I de-register the PS3 from his account and sign up for a new one, I take it that the game tag associations will also be lost and I will have to pay for new ones?
