right, so student grant coming through in jan, was wondering if i should treat my self to a PS3 for getting 92% on my exams for this term :D

the deals are looking good, but i dont get money till jan 12th, and oviously they will change, hopefully for the better with january sales etc etc...

now as i have no TV in my room, i was thinking of getting a 22" 1080p montior with HDMI in it. i also have an RCA input for my speakers, well actually it has 2 RCA inputs, one set for my PC and one set free, so i was hoping if i can use one set on the PS3, while using HDMI for the picture?

also because i have no TV, i want to buy playTV, but there is not arial in my flat, does it come with one or will i have to buy an internal one?

ALSO lool, i only have one ethernet port in my room, i am using that with my PC. but my P45 ASUS maximus II Formula has dual gigabit lan, so can i connect the PS3 to the unused lan port and get net that way?

yeah that works fine, you just have to change the audio/video settings on the ps3.

Don;t know aout the other questions.

Yep, you can mix RCA sound with HDMI video

It doesn't come with one or a cable, but you'll need a pretty strong signal to get all the digital channels. I've generally found all those free standing ones to be pants. Is there no way you can get connected to a decent one?

You can probably bridge the connection dead easily, I don't know the ins and outs of that board though. Failing that just buy a switch from OCuK for < £20.

Yes, you plug the composite cable into the Sony AV socket on the PS3 and the red/white leads into the sound system. Yellow is left unplugged. The HDMI cable goes into the HDMI socket. Then in settings you can tell it to output video via HDMI and sound via composite.

I use a "SLX Amplified High Performance Indoor Aerial" with my PlayTv and it does the business, free standing one with booster, needs a plug socket for power though.

Sorry for the hijack!

I assume that PlayTV doesn't give you the freesat HD channels, but only SD ones? I was considering getting it, but now that you can get an HD freesat box I think I may hold off. Or am I wrong?

You're correct, it works exactly like a freeview box, so you don't get any channels that are exclusive to Freesat.
You can't get top-up TV with it either, at least not currently.

mmm there is a nice bundle in the "top dog" shop where all the launches of consoles are:

PS3 80GB, Little Big Planet, FIFA 09 & either Resistance 2 OR Motorstorm 2.

which one to get (R2 or M2)?

whats better as an offline multiplayer?

also do i add FIFA and the other game to the 80GB +LBP bundle for it to work? as when i add to the basket the big bundle, and click the bundle name it only goes to the 80GB+LBP.

can someone help on that?

I got my deal from a place that sounds like space station and got 80gb, lbp, resistance2, and dead space (any game) for £309 which I thought was alright.
